Quarterback Rankings

Quarterback Rankings

The deepest position in fantasy football continues to be the quarterback position. I am unlikely to get any shares of Patrick Mahomes or Lamar Jackson this season, as I prefer to wait on quarterbacks in fantasy drafts. After all, Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson had a triple digit ADP's before winning MVP honors that very season. While none of the late round QBs likely have that type of upside to unseat Mahomes or Jackson, there are still several that could finish inside the top-5 at the position.

Things you're looking for when selecting your quarterback. Efficiency, Volume, Rushing upside, and roster talent. The top two quarterbacks check all of those boxes as Lamar makes up for his lack of passing volume with his 125+ rushing attempts.

1) Patrick Mahomes-

Regression is coming for Lamar Jackson, it's simply unlikely that he approaches his 9% touchdown rate from last year this season. While Lamar is going to see negative regression, Patrick Mahomes should see a bit of positive regression after coming back to earth following his MVP season. The Chiefs offense is absolutely loaded after adding Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the draft, while returning all other starters on offense. With a dynamic pass-catcher and running back in CEH, Mahomes will have more room to operate as he should pick apart defenses this season with his plethora of weapons in Kelce, Hill, Hardman, Watkins, and Edwards-Helaire at his disposal.

2) Lamar Jackson-

Lamar Jackson set a record for rush attempts, and rushing yards in his MVP season while also throwing a touchdown on 9% of his passes. "Tom Brady's career average is 5.4%" It is safe to say that he is going to see all of those drop a good bit this season, as the Ravens are likely to face more trailing game scripts forcing Jackson to throw more. I still believe this Ravens team is likely to be dominant this season, although defenses should be better prepared with another year of film on Jackson and this Ravens rushing attack. His passing numbers are likely to increase except for his touchdown rate as 9% is simply unsustainable, making Jackson my number 2 quarterback this season.

Tier 2

While Tier 1 is crystal clear, the Tier 2 level contains much more uncertainty. I frankly rank players based on highest upside, if Russell Wilson approached the league average of pass attempts, he would likely challenge Mahomes and Jackson for the top spot. However Carroll will not let Russ cook, so he leads my Tier 2 group of quarterbacks. I honestly think Wilson, Prescott. Watson and Murray all have the ability to finish inside the top-3. I would probably select whatever quarterback fell the furthest in my draft.

3) Russell Wilson-

4) Dak Prescott-

5) Deshaun Watson-

6) Kyler Murray-
