Quarterback- Somehow the Blake Bortles train keeps chugging along. The Jaguars relied upon the best defense in the league and first year running back Leonard Fournette last season and were a few moments away from Super Bowl LII. This season will be no different, the defense should be dominant and Fournette looks to be fully healthy. Much like last season, the lack of volume and consistency from Bortles will make him no more than a bye week fill in this fantasy football season. Wide Receiver-
The Jaguars departed with Allen Robinson, as they let him hit free agency, making Marquise Lee the teams number one receiver. He simply will not see enough volume to become a WR3 or better. He will have some very productive weeks, but a lack of consistency makes him no better than a WR3 with upside target late in your drafts.
The one receiver that I am really intrigued by is Keelan Cole, as he absolutely took advantage of his opportunities last year as a rookie. He had 20 catches for 426 yards and 2 touchdowns in the final four games of the season! He has continued to stick out in training camp and is currently starting opposite of Marquise Lee. I like the upside of Cole more than Lee and will be looking to add him in all Dynasty leagues.
The battle for the number 3 receiver will be between Donte Moncrief who they signed in free agency, Dede Westbrook and rookie D.J. Chark out of LSU. Moncrief at (6'2/220) has produced in the Colts offense (18) TDs with Luck, but he could never stay healthy. Dede Westbrook flashed down the stretch as he topped 70 yards in three of the final regular season games. If Westbrook beats out Cole for the number 2 spot, I like him as a late round pick as well. The rookie Chark has competed well this preseason and he has a lot of dynasty potential, but stuck behind several quality starters he will not be a guy you're looking to draft.
While the Jaguars have talented receivers, Blake Bortles hampers any of them from blossoming into at top 20 wide receiver this season. If the defense gets decimated with injuries and Bortles has to start airing it out late in games then I will be all in on Cole, Lee and potentially Westbrook. Tight End-
The Julius Thomas experiment did not go as the jags would have hoped. With out a playmaker at tight end for several seasons, the Jaguars went out and signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins. I would be willing to bet the lack of tight end success continues as his ceiling is TE8 with really only touchdown potential.
Running Back-
The Jaguars offenses starts with Leonard Fournette, the guy is an absolute animal when healthy but can never seem to do so for a full season. Fournette is going to get all of the volume that he can handle this season, but just be prepared for several missed games throughout the season. Including the playoffs he touched the ball 381 times for 1,628 total yards from scrimmage adding 14 touchdowns in 16 total games. Another positive for the Jaguars was the addition of All-Pro LG Andrew Norwell. His production and volume will for sure be worth the risk in round 2 and is someone I will be looking for.
In terms of who gets the Leonard Fournette scraps, that will be between T.J. Yeldon and Corey Grant. Yeldon will be a great player to own if Fournette gets injured but not worth a draft pick unless you're handcuffing him. Corey Grant will utilized in the passing game and showed some upside in the playoffs as he was dynamic with the ball in his hands. I look for him to get more involved this season and he could be someone worth a look in PPR leagues. 2018 Vegas Win Total The Jaguars’ Win Total opened at 9. The offense will be the deciding factor on just how successful this Jaguars team is in 2018. The defense will be elite and keep them in every game this season, but without production from Bortles and the passing game they will also keep every team in every game as well. The division will be much more difficult this season with the healthy return of Andrew Luck, Marcus Mariotta, and Deshaun Watson. They catch a break having to play the mediocre NFC East and AFC North. This is probably the most wide open division in football and all four teams have a chance to make the playoffs. This team should compete for a playoff spot but the only main target for me in fantasy football this season will be Leonard Fournette.
